You are invited to a PASCAL Regional Seminar: Creating Learning Communities
Monday 6th February, 12.30 - 2.00pm, The Board Room, Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley, Laurenhill Enterprise
Park, Stirling, Scotland.
Vanessa Little, Manager of Community Learning, Hume City Council, Melborne, Victoria, Australia is visiting Stirling, hosted by PASCAL International Observatory, and the Institute of Education, University of Stirling. She will make a presentation about her experiences of Community Learning in her work with Hume City, and there will be plenty of time for a discussion to share experiences with Stirling and Scotland. Hume City is located 20 kms from the centre of Melbourne and borders rural Victoria. Hume City is "a prosperous, progressive, sustainable and vibrant gateway City, distinguished by the diversity of its community and renowned for socialjustice and community inclusion".
Vanessa's work relates especially to projects and programmes dealing with literacy, school community engagement, multicultural groups, women, men, youth, preschool programs and models of creating learning communities. This is an opportunity to share good practice and the challenges which face cities and their regions across the world in addressing the agenda of inclusive lifelong learning. It will be of interest to all who are engaged in developing sustainable communities with learning as a key to personal, economic and community development.
A buffet lunch is provided by SEFV at 12.30, prior to the presentation and discussion at 1.00 - 2.00pm.
Please confirm your attendance with Jenny Gregory - gregoryj@stirling.gov.uk or phone 01786 443451 by Wednesday 1st February.
