 <p>Knowledge in Motion '08 is an international conference exploring how higher education institutions (HEIs) mobilize knowledge to affect regional development. Regional Development is understood here in a holistic sense as contributing to the economic\, social and/or cultural well-being of citizens at the local or regional (sub-national) level. The conference will further explore ways in which research\, teaching and practice create and apply knowledge with a social\, economic\, cultural\, environmental\, or health impact.&nbsp\; This conference will not only be about knowledge mobilization\, it will itself involve knowledge mobilization. </p>

 <p>The International Council for Adult Education (ICAE) is holding the forth Academy of Lifelong Learning Advocacy (IALLA IV) in Cape Town\, South Africa. This three-week training session is designed to give emerging leaders in adult learning and social movement activists the opportunity to empower themselves and acquire skills to advocate for and support adult learning for active citizenship. The objectives of the course are to\: </p>
 <ul>
 <li>generate a broader vision on youth and adult education within the framework of human rights and active citizenship\, developing linkages with the most important globalisation issues that are currently affecting the world\; </li>
 <li>support the emergence of a new leadership for the global network of adult educators committed and trained to work as a global team\, to secure the regeneration of ICAE\, in particular\, and the movements for lifelong learning in general\; </li>
 <li>and follow-up and facilitate the exchange among participants to promote the continuity of the learning process by sharing their own experience after the IALLA course. </li>

 <p>The World Forum on Lifelong Learning is organized by the World Committee for Lifelong Learning with many partners. The International Honorary Board\, chaired by Paul Bellanger (Canada)\, Chairman of the International Council of Adult Education (ICAE) \, is made up of international experts and personalities\, including Jacques Delors\, President of the International Commission of Unesco on educating the twenty-first century . </p>
 <p>The objective of this event is to take stock of education and training throughout life\, twelve years after the Delors report of April 1996 &quot\;Education\, the Treasure Within&quot\;\, advances in the systems of education\, training and learning throughout life in all its forms\, as well as the innovative practices developed in all parts of the world. It will also analyze multiple effects of globalization on education and training throughout life\, marry economic efficiency and social ambitions and set up common perspectives.</p>
