• Professor of Adult and Lifelong Education and Director of the Centre for Research and Development in Adult and Lifelong Learning at the University of Glasgow.

• Adult and non-formal education and poverty reduction
• Lifelong learning with particular interest in gender and African perspectives
• Citizenship education

 

Recent research, development and consultancy and organisations:

• British Academy funded African Partnerships Programme for capacity building and research development on topic of non-formal education and poverty reduction (2006-2009) involving universities of Malawi, Botswana, Calabar (Nigeria) and Glasgow
• Recent submission to European FP7 call on Demographic Ageing (involving Lithuania, Slovenia, Scotland and Lesotho)
